How to Choose a Healthy Breakfast Cereal

Looking to make a healthy breakfast choice? A bowl of wisely-chosen cereal topped with skim milk and some fresh fruit makes for a great fuel to start your day - much better than grabbing a bagel or muffin when you're running late.

The next few times you grocery shop, take some extra time to compare cereal box ingredient lists. Although we are taught to count calories, the rest of the ingredient list is just as important, actually more important for breakfast.  We need the calories and carbs in the morning to fuel us for the day. Just don't go overboard.

Look for:

√   Low sugar, less than 5 grams
√   High Fiber, over 5 grams
√   Low carbohydrates, less than 30 grams
√   Low calorie, less than 150
√   Protein, unless you're going for a very low-calorie option

HIIT Interval Training

HIIT High Intensity Interval Training.. The way to burn maximum calories in a minimum time

Maximum calorie burn comes from your sustaining your target heart rate throughout your work out of at least 30 minutes.

HIIT utilizes short intervals of maximum intensity exercise separated by longer intervals of low to moderate intensity exercise.

How PILOXING uses HIIT

PILOXING is a fusion of Pilates, boxing and dance. After a quick warm-up of your muscles, your class will start with a high-energy boxing set to increase your heart rate to the target zone as quickly as possible. Throughout the class you will shift from sets of boxing, Pilates and dance. A Pilates move will tone and tighten and give you a short time to catch your breath..but not enough time to let your heart rate lower from the target range. Just before this happens, your instructor will take you back to a boxing or dance set to get your heart pumping.

Happy calorie burning!
